What every shipment needs
Duties: 5% customs + 15% VAT = ~20% of the vehicle value. For used vehicles: 10% annual depreciation (max 50%). GCC-origin vehicles are exempt from customs duty.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the allowed age for used vehicles?
5 years for passenger vehicles (sedans, SUVs, pickups), counted backwards. Trucks max 10 years. Classic vehicles 30+ years allowed under special conditions.
Which vehicles are prohibited from import?
Prohibited: former police or taxi vehicles (Salvage), vehicles past the allowed age, vehicles with modified VIN, vehicles with flood or fire damage history.
When are extra efficiency fees applied?
On vehicles that don’t meet energy efficiency standards: sedans below 10.3 km/L, SUVs and pickups below 9.0 km/L. Extra fees start at SAR 20,000.
Can electric vehicles be imported?
Yes — with special regulations. They require SASO conformity certificates, with battery and electrical systems verification.
Do spare parts require SABER certificates?
Yes — auto spare parts fall under SASO technical regulations. They need SABER registration and a Product (PC) or Shipment certificate.
